“In this story collection Grant Wamack shows the reader what lies beneath everything.

Office workers subject to otherworldly beings and events, a martial artist with experimental supplements that transform him into something entirely new, cardboard homeless encampments where all is not as it seems.

If you listen close enough you can hear the hum of the world.”

Review

A wickedly delicious collection of short stories that took me on a trip through a surreal, dreamy, morbid, evil, supernatural, devilish, and at times, cunningly hilarious landscape.

I continue to be amazed by Grant’s versatility in terms of his writing. While his earlier books tackled themes of extreme bizarro and coming-of-age/friendship, The Hum of the World is more reminiscent of Roald Dahl’s macabre tales for adults.

A wide range of characters, settings, and plots make each of the stories in the collection unique. As with most of what I’ve read by Grant, the reader having a wild imagination can undoubtedly make you enjoy these tales even more.

A must-read!
